I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

It is the second time I watch The Godfather (from Part I up to Part III) and definitely I still say that this is the best mafia movie ever made. The plot and the characters of this movie was extremely well written by Mario Puzo in the middle of 20th century. For those who do not know about this movie, this is a crime movie based on Mario Puzo’s novel telling about Corleone family. Awards and charts show that this is one of the best movie ever. One of the most popular of this movie is on its quote “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse” (which is spoken by the two most central characters, Vito Corleone and Michael Corleone, for many times), this quote was voted as the second most memorable line in cinema history in 2005 poll conducted by American Film Institute. Lastly, if you think that you are into “beautiful” and “sophisticated” dialog-based-movie, check this one, I think The Godfather will definitely entertain you.

The Leap Years (2008)

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

“Based on a novella by acclaimed writer Catherine Lim, the story is about Li-Ann, a young Singaporean girl who meets her ’special someone’ on 29 February. She decides to base her intuition on an Irish leap year tradition that no man will refuse any request of a lady and invites him out for a date. Together, they embark on a romantic journey that spans over 12 years, meeting only thrice in 12 years, on the leap year.”

Actually I haven’t watch the movie yet, but I think it will be nice. First I saw its trailer in the bus and then I searched it on youtube, the idea of the movie is quite unique and interesting. If it’s possible, I want to watch it on 29th February 2008 (will be my first time go to cinema in Singapore), wanna join? For further details, you can visit the official site.

The Beauty of “A Beautiful Mind (2001)”

Friday, February 8th, 2008

“Mathematicians won the war. Mathematicians broke the Japanese codes and built the A-bomb. Mathematicians… like you. The stated goal of the Soviets is global communism. In medicine or economics, in technology or space, battle lines are being drawn. To triumph, we need results. Publishable, applicable results. Now, who among you will be the next Morse? The next Einstein? Who among you will be the vanguard of democracy, freedom, and discovery? Today, we bequeath America’s future into your able hands. Welcome to Princeton, gentlemen.”

New Books to Read

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

In last of 2007, 3 books are successfully shipped to me from paddyfield.com (first time I buy from that site), 2 of them are: “Number : Language of Science (Tobias Dantzig)” and “A Briefer History of Time (Stephen Hawking)”. I have known about those 2 books long before I bought the original ones. I think those two books are among the best scientific books in 21th century. I hope I can write some review about each soon after I finish read it.

Just for your information, if you want to buy something from paddyfield.com. I think their service is quite good, their customer services are very welcome to take care customers and the shipping takes only about 7 days to Indonesia, I think it’s fast enough.

We All Need Someone To Kiss Us Goodbye

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

A nice picture-story-book made by b.wing. It was a little bit weird when I first saw its pages, it only consists half or one sentence for each, moreover some pages just left blank. But I do believe you’ll get something when you focus on its background. A picture is worth a thousand words, hehe…

Can I have you back?

I can’t play alone

or I must call in vain through the long long summer hours?
